We bond a continuous resin coating over what is there and work a fine aggregate into it, so you keep the base and lose the joints, the weeds and the rocking slabs.

Each spot gets the grip it needs
A path you take at a steady walk, a wet step you take in the dark and a sheltered porch are not the same underfoot, so we set the grip to the spot rather than blanket the lot. We broadcast an anti-slip aggregate into the resin while it is wet, stepping the grade up on steps and entrances where a slip costs most and keeping it finer on a porch or seating area where you want it smooth.
Sun is the other thing to plan for outside. Where a path or entrance cannot be out of use for long, ask about polyaspartic flooring when we quote, as it cures quickly and copes with our climate.
Paths and steps live or die on the prep
Outdoor resin is a skin over what is already there, so it bonds best to a path or step that is sound and shedding water rather than holding it. Steps are the fussy ones: a worn nosing, a hairline crack at the back of a tread or a step that has dropped at one end all need sorting before the resin goes down, because the coating follows the shape it lands on.
So before we quote we want a look at what is down now and how it behaves in the wet. Where the path, steps or concrete are solid and fall the right way, we can usually prep and lay straight over them. Where a tread is cracking or a threshold ponds water, we say so up front rather than coat over it and watch it lift.

- Can you lay resin over my existing path or steps?
- Often, yes, as long as the base is sound and shedding water rather than holding it. A coating follows whatever is underneath, so a cracked tread or a dropped step gets sorted first. - Are resin steps and paths slippery in the rain?
- No. We work an anti-slip aggregate into the resin and step the grade up on steps and entrances where a slip matters most, so they grip through rain and frost while a porch or seating area stays finer underfoot.
- Does an outdoor path or step fade in the sun?
- We lay a UV-stable system outside, so the colour holds rather than going dull or ambering where the light lands. You tell us the look and we spec it when we quote.
- Is this the same as a resin driveway?
- No. Outdoor resin flooring is usually a coating over a path, steps or other exterior surface you already have. A resin driveway is a new permeable surface of stone bound through resin, which is a different system covered on our resin-bound driveways page.
- How much does outdoor resin flooring cost?
